Mord Sark’s parents were killed when he was young, as a penalty for hunting in an Elf-lord’s lands. He grew up in human settlements, an outcast hiding in the shadows on the edge of society. During his adolescence, he had his appearance altered, to make him resemble a human more closely, which included the loss of his prominent Orc incisors.
As he grew up, he separated further from mainstream society, supporting himself as a labourer for farmers, as a trickster with sleight of hand, gambling (and cheating), and as a thief. As a half-orc and outsider, he was constantly scapegoat for any petty crime, whether he was guilty or not.
When the local Elf-Lord was killed in his bed chambers, nobody connected it with Mord’s disappearance from the hamlet he’d grown up in. The noble’s prized possessions were missing after his murder, finely jeweled daggers, circlets, baubles, and a prized supposedly magical cloak.
With his ‘inheretence’ secured, Mord moved on to the big city, and equipped himself as a bounty hunter. The client didn’t matter, religious, arcane, regal (via proxy of course). The only stipulation, was that they were not elves. Mord was known to halve his asking price, to bring in a challenging elf mark.
